ZOO DAY

Today, mom and I took H to the zoo! He had a great day petting goats and alpacas, feeding lorikeets and other birds, not shying from the giraffes, eating pickles and fries, and watching the spider monkeys. He fell asleep while walking around the Natural Florida exhibit, but was up and ready for more before we had finished our lunch. (By the way, Brevard Zoo has an amazing pulled pork sandwich... they stuff it with coleslaw and french fries. SO GOOD.) I'm loving my week off from school, and can't wait to do a few more relaxing things before classes start again. DIYODS coming up!

IN MEMORIUM

For the USA readers, I hope you had a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend. It's one of the holidays that means much more to me as an adult then it did as a kid. Twenty years ago it was a day off school and my best friend's birthday. Now, I think of the men and women who serve this country, who fight for this country, and who've died for our country. My political protests mean nothing without their sacrifices, and I never let a day go by without thanking them for the America I live in.

On Saturday, there was a surprise party for my best friend at the Outback attended by her family and a few of our friends. She almost didn't go out to dinner with her boyfriend because they had a late lunch, and she wasn't hungry. Oh, her face was priceless. After dinner, the friends and siblings went bar hopping.

The next day was her birthday BBQ. We played Liar's Dice with horrible pirate accents, drank lots of beer, and tried not to cry at the sight of fifteen year olds setting up a beer pong table. (They filled the cups up with pool water, but knew what the game was. Depressing.)

OUTFIT OF THE DAY: BOHO BOO HOO

Dress: Planet Gold (on sale at Macy*s)
Jacket: Ecote
Boots: Volatile
Hat: Urban Outfitters panama hat
Necklaces: gift (silver); gift (gold)
Rings: gift from bestie (purple stone; Lucky brand); thrift store (turquoise)
Bracelet: gift (leather & angel charm)

Today was a rather nice day! It was around 55 this afternoon, clear skies and low breeze. I love the panama hat for bad hair days. Which was needed today. Flat, wouldn't hold any volume, couldn't decide which way I wanted the part, blah blah. I'm really loving the major bling rings I've been getting. Going to set aside Sunday for flea markets and garage sales. Awwwwww yeeeeeah.

Ciao, loves!

(BTW, my palm tree is wrapped in a blanket because of the freeze warnings we've had. Need to keep it alive. It's damn cold in the mornings. Last night, I froze my ass off scraping ice off my windshield with a business card and the defroster blowing full.)

BUT I CAN'T HELP IT IF I'M JUST A FOOL

I still have the Deathly Holiday Plague and Thanksgiving is at my house this year. Oh yeah, this is going to end well. I'm hoping to finish cleaning up today, and bake my tortes tomorrow. Chocolate ganache FTW!

I dragged my butt out to shot some OOTD snaps, but please forgive my lack of makeup or hairstyling.

Outfit, tada!

Top: Forever 21
Cardigan: Forever 21
Jeans: Forever 21 (super tight, and not jeggings, surprisingly)
Shoes: Michael Antonio
Earrings: pearls from my friend, Cass
Ring: Forever 21
Necklace: Forever 21
Title: Shakira "Fool" (I love love love Shakira. Started listening to all her older albums after wearing out the 'Sale el Sol' album. Yes, I need help.)

Sizing info: Top medium; cardigan medium; jeans 29; shoes 7.

Now, I'm off to work on a few DIYODS (Do It Your Own Damn Self) instead of being a useless snotty lump. DIYs usually don't appeal to me, but that's why I tell myself "DIYODS!" when I see something really cute and fairly easy. And if you can keep your fingers crossed for me and the project happening over the next few months, I'd appreciate it! I'll tots spill the beans once it's finished! (And include snaps!)

Thank you, darlings!

YEAH YOU MAKE ME WANT YOU MADLY

My head cold from Sunday is hanging around still. So please forgive my (more than normal) paleness in today's OOTD. Also forgive my silliness. As I've said, dork runs in my family.

The sky has been crystal clear today, breezy and about 75 degrees. It's a lovely day to hit the beach, window shop or laze in the hammock. Even with such lovely weather, I can't wait for our next cold front. Before my Northern family finds a way to dump all their snow on my head, here's the OOTD.

Shirt: Forever 21 fitted V-neck (I love these and have them in a ton of colors)
Jeans: Forever 21
Blazer: silence and noise (I think I'm going to add elbow patches to the blazer. It's just missing some flair to it.)
Belt: Forever 21 (Looking back, I think a leopard-print would have really amped this look.)
Earrings: art fair purchase
Bracelet: Wet Seal
Shoes: Deena & Ozzy oxfords
Purse: Carryland
Title: The Dollyrots "Just Like Chocolate"

My sizing: Top is a large, blazer is a medium, jeans are a 29, and the shoes are a 7. I need to measure my bust, waist and hips, as I've certainly grown from 32-24-38. Best guess, I'd say 36-28-44. My booty is big.

BREAK IT DOWN NOW

After a little break from the blog, I am ready to bring you lovely readers the same lack of scruples and high fashion sense as always. The stress from dealing with Teleplan Camera Repair was too much on top of my usual levels of work and personal conflict. That was exacerbated when Boss Man decided to charge only the office staff a dollar for every negative comment made during the day. Anyone who has ever worked customer service knows how hard it is to deal with the public at large. Very few good ones, very many horrible ones, and a few shining examples of pure crazy.

Not that I was a bump on the fashion log during my break; I've read articles, dissected "What's Hot" in my loving way, found some great areas of inspiration for my personal style, and FINALLY GOT MY CAMERA BACK. Not to mention getting my wicked awesome Halloween costume put together! And yes, my first OOTD will be my costume. Parties start tomorrow night and go all weekend! *dance*

A pictorial update will occur this night. Hark!

YIPPEEEEEE!!!

My camera should be mailed out from the repair shop this afternoon! I don't have a confirmation of shipment yet, but I'm giving them until 6:30 tonight to e-mail it to me before I start pestering them like I've done for the past three weeks. About time.

In other news, I'm going to take the camera phone for a whirl on the town this weekend. Date night OOTD. And before I get e-mails from family, NO, I will NOT be taking pictures of my date. Capisce?

To say adios for tonight, here's a Tom Brady action figure for those who aren't New England fans.

Ha! Choking hazard... priceless.

Have a lovely start to the weekend and stay safe!

Flight of Fancy

I know, I am seriously lame and dorky. Especially when it comes to naming things. I just know if I ever have a child, it's name is going to be wackadoodle weird. Like, Freyja Boudicca for a girl or Parker Jasper-Edmond for a boy. And, yes, my children will most likely get their asses beaten on the playground.

I digress.

This necklace is totally hot. I hate scarves and necklaces with large metal charms terrify me. I've cracked my front teeth five times while headbanging with a huge necklace. Yeah, my buck teeth have been filed down quite a bit thanks to smashing myself in the face while dancing. So, you can see why the feather/string bib would be appealing to me.
