IN MEMORIUM

For the USA readers, I hope you had a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend. It's one of the holidays that means much more to me as an adult then it did as a kid. Twenty years ago it was a day off school and my best friend's birthday. Now, I think of the men and women who serve this country, who fight for this country, and who've died for our country. My political protests mean nothing without their sacrifices, and I never let a day go by without thanking them for the America I live in.

On Saturday, there was a surprise party for my best friend at the Outback attended by her family and a few of our friends. She almost didn't go out to dinner with her boyfriend because they had a late lunch, and she wasn't hungry. Oh, her face was priceless. After dinner, the friends and siblings went bar hopping.

The next day was her birthday BBQ. We played Liar's Dice with horrible pirate accents, drank lots of beer, and tried not to cry at the sight of fifteen year olds setting up a beer pong table. (They filled the cups up with pool water, but knew what the game was. Depressing.)

FRIDAY FRIDAY

elcam

Yesterday was my dad's birthday. The family celebrated with riverside dining and a HUGE chocolate cake. Happy birthday, Daddy! (And I love El Caminoes. Finding one around town just makes my day.) Squidlips is a great restaurant with AMAZING seafood and drinks. Since we still obey the Catholic edict of not eating meat on Friday, the best solution was to devour local seafood. Their menu is imaginative. If you are ever in the Melbourne area, you should really check it out. And have a Green Parrot cocktail for me!

And yes, I had a few large Green Parrots by the time I posed with my sister-in-law.

Happy Birthday Dad!

I am a Daddy's Girl. And, in honor of him, I'm sharing some of my favorite photos of him.

Man, the 70s were the shit. This is my handsome padre early in his courtship of my mom. I don't have many pictures of him as a young kid.

This picture is anytime from July 1987 to September 1987. The pool at our first Florida house. My dad and brother are swimming with me.

This is his favorite sport: Powered ParaMotoring (PPM for short). This is the tandem device, so we could go up together. It is the most freeing thing in the world. He's been doing it for over a decade now.

After the 2004 hurricane season. Storms are his thing. He digs them.

I love you Dad!

Dad with Sister-In-Law and the pups. He pretends they pester him, but he sneaks them food, treats, bellrubs and plays with them when he thinks we aren't looking. Ha! Gotcha, buster!
