VINTAGE AFFAIR

One thing I've been increasingly searching for is vintage items. I've heard the argument, and use it to my advantage, that there is a reason old fashions are donated to Goodwill. Obviously, with the various re imaginings of past fashions coming back into vogue, going for the true article is a wise way to avoid trendy pricing and quality.

If you're lucky enough to live near a number of thrift stores, spending a day off browsing can pay off big time. Get friendly with the workers. Be a regular. Ask questions. If you find out when local stores send their excess stock, you can hit a jackpot of nice, current threads without the retail price tag. If you are friendly with a worker, they may set aside some items for you.

Even better, volunteer. I know that my church thrift has some amazing pieces, and that the volunteers get first pick of the donations. You can find out if your local thrifts have similar policies. If they don't, another trick people I've worked with have done is to hide a particular item in a hodge-podge area, where it's less likely to get snapped up. So, if you volunteer, or are a thrift hunter, check those overflowing miscellaneous piles first!

If you are not a fan of thrift stores, there is always EBay. If you are tenacious and determined, you can find some amazing things for very good deals. I paid less than $30 for a pair of vintage Gucci loafers and vintage Salvatore Ferragamo heels. Those were both on my lust list for AGES. And for less than a tank of gas. BOOYAH.

Start an affair with vintage today!

SIP OF YOUR LIPS

Whew! It has been a whirlwind of a month, but I finished my first class as a nursing student. It feels so amazing to be actively getting my life back on track and challenging myself to do what I thought was impossible. Fighting through depression and fear has been a long journey, and meeting it head-on is such a rush. I have the best support team a gal could ask for.

Finals is "casual day" at Keiser, so I got to wear something other than my scrubs, which, let's be honest, are pretty dang comfortable. No way was I going to miss out on a chance to show off my knock-knee glamor, AS YOU CAN SEE. :D

OH DANNY BOY...

I'm working today, and not sure if I'll have time to post my St. Patrick's OOTD, but I wanted to wish you all a very happy St. Patrick's Day! Have a wonderful night, and be safe!

(I'll be raising my mug and singing my favorite Irish drinking songs. Expect appropriate Tweets to come in tonight.)

THANK YOU DARLINGS!!!

My future ex-husband, Aaron Rodgers, and I would like to thank each and every one of you for reading my silly blog. I decided to check the traffic stats today for kicks, and holy guacamole! Readership jumped almost 50% from what it was back in May. I don't know what caused it, but I am grateful that you each found me.

I would like to extend my condolences to Canada. You were number one for readership in the first six months of the blog, but have since been passed by USA and South Korea. And France, you lovely bastards have the highest traffic for my pictures of the dogs. (If any of you could tell me why that is, I'd appreciate it!) Spain, Venezuela and Italy, I appreciate how many of you appreciate my OOTD booty queen posts.

I am tickled pink, beyond grateful for all of you, and also vaguely trepidatious of how many people have accessed the window to my world. Hope you keep coming back.

Adieu, vaya con Dios, 再见, arrivederci, and merci.

What's Worse than Sweltering Heat?

Why, mosquitoes, of course!

The Undead Birthday Bash was in Orlando this past Saturday. My girl Molly and I carpooled, and also decided to buck the zombie trend and go as vampires. We're pretty BAMF, I know.

And the mosquitoes are relentless. And apparently love booze-soaked blood. I've got the bites to prove it.

I posted this pre-party picture on my Twitter.

Thanks to my theater days, I'm decent at making fake wounds. If I had petroleum jelly, I'd really have been able to make it realistic.

The party was amazing. Most people smeared costume makeup and fake blood on themselves, but there were a few who went balls to the walls. And there was a post-Resurrection Jesus.

I passed out early. I learned that when the alcohol you're drinking can be smelled by other party-goers 15 feet away, it'll knock your ass down without mercy. Cheap and mean, just how I like it.

I am also suprised that my liver hasn't revolted. As I'm sure you all are. Mhm.

I've had a few e-mails from readers asking if the OOTDs are what I really wear. To answer the questions, yes, I do dress this way. I haven't taken any pictures of my work outfits, because I work in a wharehouse. I usually work in the office out front, but there are days where I'm in back, hauling, moving and stocking. Which, let's be honest, is dirty, sweaty and gross.

No one has to see that on here.

I like to put together outfits that would work in my ideal workplace. Only with, you know, longer hemlines. Sometimes.

Erin Go Bragh!

Happy St. Paddy's Day to you all!

I love SPD, mostly for the HUGE street party hosted by Meg O'Malley's. The downtown area is closed off, there's bands all over the place, vodka vendors and jello shots all over. $1 shots? It's good to be Irish.

Hope everyone has some fun plans for tonight, and please, be safe!
