HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT

By now, the devastation in Japan is on everyone's radar. Waiting to hear from family and friends from Japan to the West Coast was nerve-wracking, and luckily, everyone I know is alive and well. For those who are not as fortunate, there are tons of charities, listed on this page (found via Yahoo! and I Am Style-ish), where you can donate. Also, news has come out that if you text to donate, the funds may not be given to the charity until 90 days later. So, if you can donante another way, please consider it. My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this.

Goodness, has it been an action-packed few weeks at Fashion Rihab Land! Not only has work been picking up, but we were in the process of relocating our office while running our usual call volume. Needless to say, quite a few of the techs have called in with the Moving Flu over the course of the relocation. (If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you've read my relocation updates.) I'm so blessed to have all these tough men working with me. Though, to be fair, moving 25 years of accumulated plumbing and A/C parts, equipment, and junk is no small feat.

No small feat that was mostly done by the ladies. Good thing the women in my family are made of some stern stuff. *flex*

Now that things are settling back down, I convinced some friends to go out and decompress. I love my ladies.

WHO DID WHAT?

I'm back, lovelies. The family went home to Wisconsin, and the boring routine of life returned as soon as they pulled out of the driveway. Boo. I wish I could've spent more time with them, but with work and computer troubles creating more work, I rarely got to see them. I'm glad for the time I did get with them, and that they were able to relax and have fun. And for the vodka slush. Yummy!

I regret not having posts prepared ahead of time, so the next update will be tonight after work.

Have a great day!

PANIC (AT THE OFFICE)

Ugh, my inner music snob hates me for that title.

I'm leaving in the midst of payroll, but with the hours I've logged, the necessary paperwork is done without incident. The rest is just logging the information into the computer and submitting it to our paycheck company. If only it was that simple. Seems our computer system always crashes on the due date, but as I type this, we are running at full capacity. (knock on wood)

By the time y'all get my next update, I'll be (hopefully) boarding my flight. Unless I get detained for possessing weapons of mass sexiness.

Happy Friday!

Hello, darling readers! Are you just itching to get out of work, like I am? Man has the service industry been busy as hell. I'll be back tomorrow, fighting my way through loads of phone calls, some annoying, some truly stupid, and some actually worth the time. Oh, the joys of customer service.

I have thrilling news! No, I'm not the next cover girl of Vogue, nor am I launching my own clothing line. I know, I know, how very disappointing for me too.

But, you'll find this a real knee-slapper, I have managed to damage my rotator cuff! No, that's not yet another thing in my car, but the fancy description for the shoulder. I'm not sure what, exactly, is wrong, just that when I move my humerus it is agonizing pain shooting down my arm and across the upper back. I think it may be a ligament pressing a nerve or bone.

And as much as I really don't want to go to the doctor, I am starting to think I may have to suck it up. The pain has only grown, I've immobilized the arm, and I'm pretty sure that denial isn't going to make it any better. Damn it.

It took me an hour to type this one-handed. So, yeah, happy Friday!

UFF DAH

THAT'S RIGHT I SAY 'UFF DAH'. (Shout out to my Midwest peeps, yo!)

For years now, I've been looking for a new curse word or phrase, because the old stand-bys just hadn't been cutting it. "Shit" was for minor things like slicing my finger open while making dinner, or tripping on the stairs. "Goddamnit" was for annoying customers and cold calling telemarketers. "Bitch" and "Asshole" are terms of endearment for friends. (If you met my friends, you would understand. I think. Or am I an asshole for that? Oh God!) "Fuck" covers anything from, as Lewis Black says, 'thinking up shit to say' to falling into puddles.

I say 'fuck' so often, that when I am pissed off, or hurt, or whatever, no one really takes me seriously. Some times I get so flustered, I can't even curse. I just spit out something like, "monkeypissfiddlesstickshitfuckcreek!"

I can hear your laughter.

That Norwegian phrase always works, even if no one down South really knows what it means, except for my Minnesotan friend. Hello friend! Thanks for making me feel less like a weirdo than the native Floridians!

The point I initially wanted to make, before being sidetracked explaining about uff dah, was that, once again, my work life is in disarray. Surprise! The second new girl quit! After a week of interviews and three weeks of training.

And the executive decision is that we won't be hiring a new person to fill the slot. Because, well, that's the job I've been doing anyways for the last four years, in addition to what I actually get paid for.

I get to work six days a week.

Twelve to sixteen hours a day. At least.

While going to school full time.

Oh boy.
