UTILICAPE

You read that right: utilicape.

Here's ASOS's version.

{Now on sale for $54.89!}

That is the only fashion-related item I found with a quick (read: lazy) Google search for "utility cape". When I tried for "utilicape", the only results were for the domain ultilicap.net. Psh, whatever. I was surprised to not find any Batman references, since I always figured that if anyone would need a utilicape, it would be the Caped Crusader. For Pete's sake!

{Not you, Pete.}

My quest for the utilicape came as a result of various sources indicating that capes will be "in" this fall. After perusing a number of adorable options, I thought that the ultimate find would be the utilicape, so that I could look chic and carry my purse contents sans purse. Fabulous, I know, right? Sadly, not only were most of the current options outside my price range (roughly $25), but I did not find a single option that would satisfy my utilicape desires. Should I find that one cape for me, I'll have to modify pockets in it.

It's a tough life I lead, lovers.

Happy Hump Day!

CURRENTLY

Yes, I am bringing back a blast from the past. BOOYAH.

EATING

Grilled Rosemary Chicken

I have bushes of rosemary growing in the backyard, so when I grill, I like to snap a few sprigs off and roast 'em. By not only sprinkling the breasts, but laying full sprigs on the grill alongside the chicken (or whatever I happen to be grilling), it infuses a lovely tang, and slightly smokey taste into the meat.

DRINKING

Welch's Grape Juice

One of the things I haven't grown out of. And thanks to ThinkGeek, I don't have to feel silly about drinking juice at house parties. DIY adult beverage kit is a grand idea, and reminds me of studying fermentation in high school. I mean that literally, and not as a euphemism for underage drinking. I was and still am, a science nerd.

READING

Eccentric Glamour by all around genius, Simon Doonan.

I've read this book so many times. It's laid the cornerstone of my fashion philosophy, that what you wear is for you and not some cookie-cutter amalgamation of fashion houses or editor's without the cajones to dress to their idea of what glamour and style is. Just because an article is classified as a vest doesn't mean it should only be worn as a vest. It can become a statement, a movement, a revolution from mindless guidelines. Doonan express and celebrates those he considers to be the pioneers of eccentric glamour. It's smart, biting, hilarious and at times heartbreaking.

COVETING

Amazon Kindle

I love books. Especially used and early editions. The smell and feel of an older book is intensely satisfying to me. So it is no surprise that I was very resistant when family members asked if I would like an eBook for Christmas. Just like how non audiophiles don't understand, non bibliophiles wouldn't understand. But the more research I did, and the more damage I caused my beloved books out and about, the more I've come to think having a Kindle could be very satisfying in my life.

SINGING ALONG WITH

A Blackheart Christmas

Covers of Christmas songs, recorded by bands on Blackheart Records label. My favorite songs include "Santa Baby" covered by The Dollyrots and "Father Christmas" covered by The Vacancies. The Blackheart sound reaches into your chest and won't let go, so these covers are wild. Punky, funky, crashing drums and screaming guitars, most definitely not for every musical palate.

WATCHING

Deadly Women on Investigation Discovery

ID is totally my newest addiction. The show is done well, with just enough dramatization, facts, and storytelling to make for excellent viewing. If you aren't a crime buff, this probably won't appeal to you.

That's all, peeps. I'm off to finish wrapping and bake cookies. Have a lovely weekend!

NERD HOT

Warehouse 13 rocks my socks. Claudia is the best, and her Mafia-hiding Witness Protection boyfriend is a NERD HOT. I want some nerd hot. Mmmmm...

Speaking of nerd hot...

When someone says AKIRA, my initial image is:

However, there is an Anthro tank also called AKIRA:

I don't see the resemblance.

I AM OFFICIALLY SKEEVED OUT

Despite the name, and my deep love for it, Forever 21 predominantly caters to teen girls. Probably even tween girls.

So, why are they now carrying a maternity line?

Granted, they branched into a kids line a while back, but this is something waaaaay too close to PedoVille. I guess it's kind of less creepy since their Love 21 line is the one carrying the maternity wear, and the line is described as "offering a more sophisticated, modest fit than FOREVER 21" but they advertised it on the Forever 21 main page! Is MTV's 16 and Pregnant show in that desperate of a need for teen mothers?

Am I the only one offended by this?

My Love for Hodgela Knows No Bounds

Yes, I am a Bones fan. I totz ship Hodgela and BB. And The Witch in the Wardrobe episode TOTALLY got me squealing. Not to give any spoilers. Even though the episode was a while ago, and I'm just getting to the DVRed ones.

Whew, sorry, but I just had to get the (non-spoiler) glee out of my system. Now back to our regularly scheduled program!

Piperlime seriously has the best collection of cute, sassy, affordable and pricey. Granted, to some a dress going for three hundred smackeroos is a steal if it's from Cynthia Vincent or Peter Som. Fuck, I'd kill to touch one of Som's origami dresses. What I'm trying to say is that "pricey" is all relative. I frequent Forever 21, so Anthropologie prices stun and bewilder me. For internet famous Chloe, dropping some change on a cute ass pair of Mui Mui sandals is nothing big to fret about.

The above beauty, Matteo, looks like a cute in-between for summer to fall. It's in the bootie/shootie style, interesting color and pattern, and looks much lighter than it's winter counterparts.

*sigh*

I can have night on the town?

Gurgle Gurgle

OH GOD 24. GODDAMN YOU DANA! SHIT.

(I know. I'm a lost cause. Example, I'm looking forward to The Good Guys. If that doesn't say anything, I don't know WHAT does.)

You may have seen on the Twitter last night, I had a run in with the food poisoning ills. Having a massive hangover and then getting that mess? Dudes, I wanted to punch whatever bacteria that caused it in the face. Too bad medicine doesn't work that way.

Anyways, I'm back on my feet, and feeling oodles better! Thank you for the kind words.

Mmmm...

Of course I become a total whore for 24 during it's last season.

Figures. SO behind the TV times.

I love Cheap Monday. I bought a pair of zip ankle jeans from them. THEY ARE AMAZING. They cup my tushie just fine. I luv it.

When I saw this on Lulu's, I immediately flipped my wig and scurried for the checkout.

Gorgeous!
