Thank God for Anthroholic, because I would feel so reeeee-dic-u-lous in my obsession with F21 were it not for her obsession with anthropologie. Granted, anthropologie is a class above, but damnit, let me have my dreams!
(Most of my dreams consist of being a lady of ill-repute on a steamboat, drinking moonshine with Mark Twain and Oscar Wilde -weird, I know- and having a rave up time. Or else are of mundane things like brushing my teeth. Whatever.)
ANYWAYS.
(LEAVE MY WEIRDNESS ALONE!)
Forever 21 has a new collection for their Forever 21 Twist line. You can view the lookbook and pieces here. It's all very retro 50s and early 60s. Shit like that. I like the concept a lot more than the execution of the majority of the line. There are a few pieces I think are cute as hell, and can't wait to get my grabby mitts on, but the rest I could take it or leave it. Let's have a look-see.
I wish they had done a retro polka dot dress, instead of the weird bikini-top feel of the polka dot romper. I mean, what the hell balls? It makes the model look like she has no bazongas, ta-tas, etc. At the very least, it could've been ALL polka dots, and that would've won me over. I'd tie a neck kerchief of black chiffon about my throat, toss on some leather thongs and prance through a field of daisies in that!
The marina mini skirt makes me gleeful and giddy for nautical excursions. The embellished anchors on the buttons make my heart skip, the dangling charm feels a tad dangerous, and the structure just can make me smell the salt air. (I live by the ocean, so that may just be a breeze, BUT I THINK NOT.) A floppy straw hat, white bikini, and flip flops, and I'm ready for a boating.
The Sailor Jerry inspired "Forever Yours" shirt makes me giggle in giddish delight. I used to want a Sailor Jerry pinup girl tattoo, until that style became overdone, and cliche for douchebags. THANKS A LOT, DOUCHEBAGS FOR RUINING MY FAVORITE TATTOO DESIGN. GOD.
The rest of the line, I am seriously ambivalent about. I want to be excited, because I love the idea of an affordable faux-vintage line to add to my wardrobe, but it's not the kind of retro I would go for. You know what I'm saying?
Damn.
