A Taste of India

Every other Friday, a couple of my girlfriends decided to go to a different cultural restaurant. Last night was the first time I joined them. It was so much fun! We met up at A Taste of India, and immediately the atmosphere was so cozy while also being intimate.

Beck had never had Indian food before, while Molly and I have had some exposure to it. Molly started off by ordering garlic Nan for the table. It's unleavened bread, like a pita, only soft on the inside and lightly toasted on the outside. So delicious.

Molly and I indulged in wine, red for her, white for me. Beck stuck with Pepsi, which she said made her feel like the kid at the table. Funny, considering she's the oldest of us. For the main course, both Beck and Molly went with lamb, lamb Rogan Josh for Beck and for Molly, I can't remember. I got the Kabai chicken.

Oh God. It was divine.

It came in a separate dish, so we could share or eat as much or little as we wanted. It came with another dish of coconut rice, which complimented the slight bite of the Kabai so well. The rice was steamed with cloves, adding a great subtle nutty, citrus tang. Had to look out, because biting down on a clove could ruin the delicate balance of flavors. At least for me.

Here's a shot of what it came in. So aesthetically displayed. And so freaking tasty! I polished off my leftovers during lunch today.

Next time, I'm going for the Vindaloo.

Spicy!
