How Do You Sleep?

Everybody has a different preference for their sleepwear. I have a friend who sleeps in an ex boyfriend's T-shirt, another friend only sleeps in flannel PJ tops, and another only wears his favorite pair of boxers.

I remember my first year at college I had two roommates, one each semester. The first semester, and my first taste of real freedom being three hours away from my family, my roommate and I were polite, but never got very close. She was the preppy, sorority girl with pink and brighter pink comforter, pillows, toiletries, so on and so forth. I had a brunette buzz cut, torn punk clothing, and tons of piercings. I also smoked cigarettes constantly, and read feminist prose; she cheered for the Boston Red Sox and had a job at Hooters. For sleepwear, she wore pink babydoll negligees or her boyfriend's jersey.

My second roommate moved in after winter break. She was a fan of Mary J, had a black quilt, and almost as many band tees as me. Except for the Mary J, we got along really well. She'd cook me dinner sometimes, and I'd introduce her to the rest of the pot community on campus (which mostly consisted of my ex and his roomies) and when it came down to finals, we would both get each other whatever booze we could scrounge up. The worst thing about her was that she talked in her sleep, which was really weird the first time it happened. She never remembered what she said, but I learned how to handle her sleep-freak outs. Luckily she wore big Marley shirts to bed, so I never had to worry about her wandering the Quad nude.

Since that lovely first year, I've had many roommates, and shared sleeping quarters with almost all of my friends. Whoever says sleepovers end in elementary school obviously never went partying and ended up watching over an over-indulging friend. There's always been constants: boxers or gym shorts on the fellas, boyfriend tees or slips for the gals.

Personally, I prefer sleeping au naturale. Healthy air flow, easy, with the additional perk of being found to improve ones self-esteem. Women who sleep in the nude are more comfortable with their bodies as they are than women who cover up. Oddly, I'm in the minority of people I know, as far as nude sleeping goes.

But, for the times when it isn't socially acceptable to snooze in the buff, I prefer silk and lace nighties. Victoria's Secret is one of my favorites, as well as La Perla. I know they're more noted for their lingerie, but I also love their nighties. Castle Key slip, totally sexy. You don't even need to wear it for anyone but yourself, it is that fine. Another favorite is the Satin & Lace chemise, particularly in emerald or sapphire. They no longer carry either of those colors on-line, but every so often you might find it in-store.

I love sleeping in guy's undershirt and boyshorts. Especially my BF's undershirt, after he's worn them soft. Mmmm...

Bliss.

So, let me know, what do you sleep in? It's always fun to find out someone's favorite sleepwear.
